PGRC Season ending Domination

PGRC Season ending Domination

Peninsula Girls Rowing Club sent its Open girls to the SA Schools Junior Championships held outside Pretoria on the Roodeplaat dam. The Open girls clearly wanted to show that PGRC is a name to remember. But actions speak louder than words – and the message couldn’t be clearer. In the Club division, PGRC ended second on the overall club points table (a remarkable achievement with only one age group). The following are the results:

  • U19 2X – 1st/2nd/3rd
  • U19 2- – 1st/2nd/3rd
  • U19 4X+ – 1st/2nd

The girls also competed against the schools in two boat classes – the U19 2- where our two crews came 1st and 2nd in the B-Final, making them the 9th and 10th fastest crews in the country. However it was the Girls U19 8+ event where the girls showed their dominance – Walking away as SA Junior Champions 2019.

Peninsula Girls rowing club participated at the recent Western Cape Championships achieving some incredible results. Both U14 and U15 age groups won the majority of their events while Kirsten won her U16 A sculls race in a tightly fought contest.

Tight races and heart stopping finishes seemed to be the order of the day with PGRC Opens winning both the U19 4X+ and 8+ with mere centimeters. Well done to all the girls.
